Also included are several letters, 1865, from a soldier, James B. Haslet, describing his experiences and observations during his mustering out maneuvers, including his response to a rumor about efforts to free Jefferson Davis; and a clipping, 1863, from the New York Independent, containing an editorial on the New York draft riots.
